Day 10 - Travel Day: Fort Stevens to Jessie Honeyman State Park

Let's Take the Scenic Route - NOT

The drive down the Oregon coast was something we were all really looking forward to because we had heard how beautiful the scenery would be. However, it’s really hard to enjoy the view when we all felt like we’d been on an amusement park ride all day. These prairie dwellers do not have the stomachs for the up, down and all around nature of this highway. I (Connie) had a headache that wouldn’t quit, Aria threw up about half way through the morning, and Kaija just suffered in silence. Plus, the only container we could find when Aria said she needed to hurl was the one that we had used to collect our seashells and other beach treasures. I was able to dump a few of them in time, but not all. Yuchhkky! The scenery was fantastic, but nonetheless, it was a drive to forget.

Everything looked up as soon as we arrived as the campground is beautiful and the air is much drier than at Fort Stevens.  A huge banana slug (aptly named Scummy) kept the girls very entertained while we set up the camper. After that, Rick and the girls explored the sand dunes while I made supper, and then we all took hot showers and watched a movie before going to bed. A relaxing ending to a tough day.
