Day 8 - Fort Stevens State Park

The Coast at Last
As we drove up to the ocean beach, the girls were already squealing.  This was what we came for! It was a very foggy morning, so the visibility wasn’t great, but it didn’t matter. The girls ran straight to the water, and straight back out as it is numbingly cold. We all spent the day walking the beach, collecting shells, playing in the sand and exploring the shipwreck of the Peter Iredale.  The wreck couldn’t be a better playground.  It was a ship that ran aground in 1906 and they have just left it there. Slowly, the beach is burying it, but for now it's a great place to explore. As the day wore on, the sun won the battle with the fog and it cleared up enough to give us a bit of blue sky.

An interesting event was that Aria’s tooth came out in the middle of the night.  At 3:30 she said in a loud whisper, “Mom, I lost my tooth, I lost my tooth.”  How or why she pulled it out at that hour is a mystery.
