Day 5 - OMSI
We checked the forecast before deciding what we would do in Portland, and it looked a little warm for outdoor activities, so we thought OMSI was a good choice. OMSI is the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, and it's like Touch the Universe at the MB Museum times 10. We had a great day. Here are some highlights:
- We toured a submarine with a somewhat over-zealous tour guide who was a former member of the US Navy. Below you can see Rick already mocking him (shame on you Rick). Needless to say, we didn't tell him we were Mennonites or even from Canada.
- We saw an IMAX show. Who knew underwater creatures were so funny?
- We played connect 4 with robots who danced when they won.
- We tried to understand the theory of relativity. Nope, still don't get it.
- We saw real, preserved fetuses from 1 week to 36 weeks old. Incredible, and somewhat sobering to see these actual human forms in these early stages of development.
